Please contact our Membership Secretary, Sue Goldspink for further information on any aspect of society membership, including new member auditions.
Previous stage experience is not essential and all voices are welcome. We usually rehearse on a Monday evening, 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm at Dogsthorpe Junior School, Central Avenue, Peterborough, PE1 4LH.
Annual subscriptions for acting members are £60.00 for persons over 18 years of age and £40.00 for students and those persons aged 14 to 18 years old.
The Roy Sims' Memorial Award On 22 April 2002 Roy Sims, a loyal stalwart of the Players for 52 years, died aged seventy-four. Much thought was given on how to celebrate and pay tribute to his memory. The Executive Committee agreed that the Roy Sims Memorial Award should be presented annually to recognise an individual for their progress and development during the season.
If you'd like to become a member but don't wish to appear 'in the spotlight', then we'd still like to hear from you. Our back stage crew and front of house team are very important to the smooth running of every production - perhaps you can offer skills in those areas? Publicity - We are always looking for new ways to promote the name of the Peterborough Gilbert and Sullivan Players! If you have experience in marketing or publicity, or just have the time, energy and enthusiasm to help, we'd welcome your support. There are so many ways to become involved, what skill do you have ..........? Non-acting member subscription is £15.00 per annum.
During rehearsals we have a refreshment break so that people can relax and talk, and members often contribute delicious home-made cookies. Near the beginning of the season we combine a rehearsal with a social evening of drinks and nibbles to allow members to catch up and get to know new members.
We don't just get together for rehearsing and performing. During the year the Social Secretary organises events (usually having something to do with calories!!) to which members, their relatives and friends are all welcome. During 2009 we held a barbecue and a delectable desserts evening. Our end of season event was a Halloween Dinner with in-house cabaret and dancing, which was held at the Orton Hall Hotel.
